API Ammo-Lock 473 mL (16 fl oz) detoxifies ammonia in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It binds ammonia into a non-toxic form but does not remove it from the aquarium or replace the need to correct its cause.

How to use

When ammonia is detected, follow the bottle directions; the stated dose is 5 ml per 38 litres, repeated every two days as directed. Carry out appropriate partial water changes and keep checking water quality.

Important precautions

Identify the source of ammonia, including overfeeding or filtration problems. If ammonia persists after seven days, follow the label's corrective-care guidance. Do not rely on detoxifier alone to resolve an ongoing ammonia problem.

Converts Toxic Ammonia to Safe Form – Test Kits Still Show TAN

This product does not remove ammonia; it only converts toxic ammonia (NH3) into a non-toxic form (NH4⁺) that is safe for fish. Therefore, the total ammonia nitrogen (TAN = NH3 + NH4⁺) is not reduced. Keep in mind that standard test kits also measure TAN, not just free ammonia (NH3). As a result, test readings will not drop significantly after using this product, even though the harmful part has been neutralized. The actual removal of ammonia happens only when beneficial bacteria in the biological filter are working properly.

Outstanding product

I have been using many big brands for my 2 aquarium. I have a one gold fish tank with 18 gold fishes but 2 filters, one top filter and one Fluval canister filter with lots of Biomedia of Api, matrix, denitrate, purigen, etc. But sometimes the ammonia level does increase and tank starts stinking. But with this Api Ammo lock in 2 days everything is under control and the smell also goes away.
I have become a fan of API brand and will always buy it.
