Holy crap this stuff works FAST. I have been battling an algae bloom in my 6 gallon Beta tank. My poor mustard beta couldn't even see me to come get food. I tried everything, including snails, corys, shrimp, and lots of live plants. I added an extra filter and tested water quality daily. Nothing was working and since the tank was otherwise very healthy, I felt stuck. When I finally created a blackout environment for 3 days and it still didn't help, I order this stuff. I put a couple drops in, and went to run errands for a few hours, and when I returned the tank was crystal clear. My Beta (Artie) was dancing infront of the glass and the little corys (Click and Clack) where skittering around all over the place. Its been 2 days and everyone seems super stoked. I immediately added a few drops to my other tank, and this morning both are clear. Dont wait like I did. This stuff is safe for small aquariums as well as large ones and its the only one I could find that was safe for live plants.

This algaefix is amaaaazing!! It cleared my green waterrr(algae bloom) in my tank in 5-6 hours completely. I'm impressed! And other algae are also dying out.
But I think it stress out the fishes little bit for few mins when poured because, all my tetras grouped up and stayed at bottom and my gourami hided behind the plants.
So I think overdosing will kill the fishes. So take that in mind and be conscious. I used two doses and my tank is pretty much recovered! And also I'm using this weekly after water changes.
But keep in mind that this is a medicine that kills algae. If you really want to stop new algae growth, you definitely should be okay with all your tank water parameters and lighting. Everything should be balanced!

Using RO water helps reduce the growth of brown algae. Tap water being rich in salts and chemicals are the primary reason for algae along with higher nitrogen.
Algaefix helps keep your tank cleaner for longer, reducing the need of frequent water changes. But don't expect anything drastic. It takes few days to do its work and should be used strictly as per direction and avoid pouring it directly into the aquarium as your fish may come to the surface thinking food and consume a deadly concentration. Mix it in a cup of water and pour it in your aquarium evenly.
Update after few months. Even less than recommended dosage is proving deadly to my fishes. In the last application, couple of danios were on the ground gasping for breath to save them I had to do a immediate water change and move them to a different aquarium.
While it is effective in controlling algae of all forms, it is suggested to move all plants and fishes for couple of days to a separate aquarium and then apply. As of now I have lost 3 fishes and one plant but algae growth disappeared for 5-7 days post application, but it won't stop them from coming back.
Instead of using biocide my advise would be to stick to water changes and regulating feeding.
