Who we are
YoloLife Aquatic — Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established 2020.
YoloLife is a one-stop aquatic and reptile house: livestock, aquatic plants, aquariums and terrariums, equipment and food, plus custom aquarium commissions, installation, ongoing maintenance, aquascape design and fish boarding for clients across the UAE.
Everything in this Journal comes out of that work — tanks and enclosures we have actually built and maintained in Dubai homes, offices and villas, in a climate that breaks a lot of the advice written for temperate countries. Desalinated tap water, 45 °C summers, air-conditioning cycles and month-long travel are not edge cases here. They are the default conditions.
Why this Journal exists
Most aquarium and reptile content online is either a spec sheet or a sales page. Very little of it gives you a number you can act on, and almost none of it accounts for keeping animals in the Gulf.
The Journal is an attempt to fix both problems. Every guide is written to answer one question, with figures rather than adjectives — 26–29 °C rather than "warm enough," 4–6× turnover per hour rather than "adequate filtration," replace T5 UVB at 12 months rather than "regularly."
Editorial rules we hold ourselves to
- Care guides are not sales pages. Husbandry articles are written without product placement. Where we recommend equipment, we say why in terms of specifications, not brand names.
- Numbers over adjectives. If a claim can be given a figure, a range or a unit, it gets one.
- We say when we don't know. Some things in this hobby are genuinely unsettled — drop eye in arowana, the real usable surface area of porous bio media, whether a given bottled bacteria product works. We flag those as unsettled rather than pretending otherwise.
- We defer to veterinarians. Aquatic and exotic animal medicine is a clinical discipline. Our guides describe symptoms and first responses. They do not replace an exotics vet.
- Corrections are published. If we get something wrong, we fix the article and say what changed. If you find an error, tell us: support@yololife.ae.
What we actually do, day to day
- Custom aquarium commissions — design, build and installation, from nano tanks to large predator systems.
- Maintenance contracts — recurring service for homes, offices and hospitality clients across the UAE.
- Aquascape design — planted layouts, hardscape, CO2 and lighting systems.
- Fish boarding — we look after livestock while owners travel.
- Livestock and equipment — aquatics, reptiles, plants, tanks, terrariums, food and gear.
That last point matters for how you should read this Journal: we sell things. Which is exactly why our husbandry guides carry no product placement — if a care guide only works when you buy something from us, it is not a care guide, it is an advertisement.
